Script Frenzy ends tonight! What to do if you... →
screnzypages:
To everyone who has already crossed the finish line by writing the 100th page on their scripts, I offer a hearty congratulations!
But if your page count is still a little bit less than 100 pages, you shouldn’t feel left out. There are still many hours left in the contest, plenty of time to add some more pages to your count. But even if you are at page 1, you definitely don’t want...

The below photo essay is by Diego Raigoza Núñez, a long-time friend and contributor to Celtx.

Hello friends at Celtx Team and of the Celtx Blog:
I’d like to share with all of you a project I recently presented; which was possible to write and pre-produce thanks to Celtx.
The name of my project is Eternal Solitude Of A Fragile Heart; it is a photographic short story.
For a long while now,...

Anonymous asked: Comments don't seem to work on MAC. I have saved a screenplay to Celtx from my Mac and added comments but they don't show. When I go into versions, select a version and try to add a comment I just see the spinning wheel symbol. Have tried using Safari and Chrome. All seems to work OK on my Windows machine. When will this bug be fixed - I use my Mac for writing more than my Win 7 machine.

Anonymous asked: Greetings - Before I purchase, I'm trying to find out: with Celtx, is it possible to track revisions as in Final Draft - or to read tracked revisions in varying colors from an fdx file? Thanks!

Anonymous asked: Now that Celtx is switching to cloud-based everything. How will old "Studio" accounts be handled? Currently I can't sync from my ipad or iphone to my studio account. It wants me to create a CeltX cloud account. Studio has all my script archives, etc though so how will we be switched over to the new services? Or, will everything be lost when everything is finally switched over?

Anonymous asked: I have downloaded the software to desktop. How can I share a project with others who also have downloaded the software to their desktop. I would prefer not to work 'in the cloud' as the cloud based system does not have all the features that the desktop software does, ie title page, characters listings, etc which are important at this point of our collaboration.

wegco-op asked: With all the new user friendly features in Novel add ons; I am anticipating some one making it possible to have annotations. Because its a Western publisher's requirement on books printed in Non-Fictional venues. How do I place numbers in the body of the text that link or relate to all published resources at the ends a chapter? This annotation is second nature in educational offerings. My...

Anonymous asked: Today I was looking over my Celtx scripts on my iPhone I noticed that a few of my script were not showing up properly. When I clicked on them, it did not show what I had written and saved, but rather segments from other scripts that I had written.I then logged in the website and saw that my scripts were intact there. So on my phone I decided to sync it again and all of a sudden all of my scripts...

Anonymous asked: I have two questions, 1) how can I create a cover page in the cloud version of Celtx; 2) why when I print to PDF in cloud my script is 127 pages, but when I print to PDF on desktop version, it is almost 100 pages more. Thanks,

Anonymous asked: I'm doing pre-production on a feature-length film, and I have experienced, in the breakdown, several instances where a character is listed multiple times, sometimes due to his/her name being typed with different capitalization, sometimes for no discernible reason. Is there any smooth way to combine these duplicates without finding each instance in the script and re-writing it? The same goes...

Anonymous asked: When should I use non-linear storytelling? Someone suggested that I could fix my screenplay by making things non-linear. However, I have some misgivings because I don't think that it would add anything to my story and could even be seen as a cheap and superficial solution to my story.

Remembering Kurt Vonnegut →
My fave: Vonnegut’s eight basics for creative writing
1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted. 2. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for. 3. Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water. 4. Every sentence must do one of two things—reveal character or advance the action. 5. Start...

Screenwriting Tip #960
screenwritingtips:
Keep momentum up at all costs. Don’t stop in Act Two to describe the backdrop. Don’t stop to provide “comic relief”, or to spotlight a minor character who’s been quiet recently. Stay with your protagonist and keep going.

If you could help me in any way to submit my film before deadline, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Anonymous asked: I cam up with some script ideas that centered around the topic of domestic violence. I was told that writing about it is a bad idea because it has little commercial viability (unless it is on the Lifetime network) and also because movies on such topics tend to be unrealistic and melodramatic. I have thought that if I develop my ideas and execute them properly I might see if they can work as...

Screenwriting Tip #953
screenwritingtips:
Don’t assume that readers will know why your historical setting is cool. They may know absolutely nothing about WWII, the French Revolution, etc. It’s your job to show them the coolest parts of the setting, preferably by folding them seamlessly into your narrative.
