Anonymous asked: Can I edit Cloud documents directly on my Mac Celtx software? How do I do it?

Yes, the cloud editor currently supports editing screenplay, stageplay, AV two-column, audioplay & comic book editors.

There are two primary scenarios:

1.  You started a script on your desktop that you now want to work on in your cloud account; or,

2.  You started a script in the cloud that you now want to work on on your desktop.

In the first scenario, when you’re ready to save it, click File->Save to Celtx.  Keep “Celtx Services” selected and enter your e-mail address and password followed by OK.  You’ll see a list of your existing cloud content.  Give the project a title and click OK again.

When you return to celtx.com and log in to your account, you will see the project you saved under the Resources tab.  Click the project title to open it and inside will be all of that project’s scripts that currently have some text.  (Any scripts you created in the project on the desktop that are empty of any text will not be visible in the project in your cloud account.

Click the title of the script.  It will open in the web editor and you can continue to work.  When you’re done, save your work.

If you return to your project on the desktop, select “Open from Celtx” and select your project.  Your most recent work online in the web editor will all be included.

Now for the second scenario.

If you start a project online, it will be a loose script not bound to a project.  On your desktop you can open it by clicking Open from Celtx.  The script will be available and selecting it to edit will show you a light blue banner saying “You are now working in script-only mode.”

If you make edits to the script, when you click Save, it will update your script in the cloud.  If, however, you add something to that script like a Production Calendar, additional files or other project-specific features that are offered through the desktop editor, then when you save the script to your cloud account, it will actually create a whole project.

When you return to your cloud account, you will see in your Resources tab both the loose script and a project that contains the script you were just editing.  If the version of the script that is in the project is now the latest version, then you should continue to use the version inside the new project as your latest & greatest draft.
